The consortium FINO (Philosophy of North-West or Philosophy in the North-West) was set up at the University of Turin in 2013, with the support of the Compagnia di San Paolo foundation.
The consortium is made up of four universities from the north-west region of Italy and is designed to strengthen the existing solid relationships and cooperation between the members of the University of Genoa, University of Pavia, University of Piemonte Orientale and the University of Turin.
Administration of the Consortium for cycles 29-32 was in the hands of the University of Turin; from cycle 33 at the University of Genoa, with the support of the Department of Ancient Studies, Philosophy and History (DAFIST).
The cities of Alessandria, Genova, Pavia, Turin and Vercelli are well-connected in terms of transport and can be considered, broadly speaking, as a large metropolitan area.
