t) Other activity and language skill

UPO Junior is a University event that involves schools of different types and levels in the area. Participation consists of conducting linguistic activities in a small group with primary or secondary school students. In more detail, the laboratory uses a board game aimed at observing pragmatic skills in the creation of various linguistic acts. The university students who participate will have to collaborate with the teachers in preparing the game, managing it during the event, reviewing the material and collecting data that emerges from the game

The activity emerged from an educational and scientific cooperation agreement between the “Lene Thun” Onlus Foundation (Bolzano) and the Department of Humanities.

Interested students will be required to participate in a series of lessons by Dr. Eva Stückel, aimed at strengthening translation skills. During these lessons, translation work will be performed from Italian to German (and vice versa) of informative and promotional texts that the Foundation needs for the communication and promotion of its activities at the Italian and German hospitals where it operates. Students must continue and complete the translation work individually. The translations will then be reviewed and discussed in group meetings and subsequently transmitted to the Foundation. Students will also be involved in translating continuously updated pages of the site (e.g. the newsletter).

2 ECTS credits for participation in the series of lessons and the submission of translations.

The workshop sets out to present an introductory framework of the cultural, artistic and political debates linked to the development of the feminist movement and LBGTQ+ activism from the 1970s to today, and their persistence and transformation in contemporary, national and international scenarios, through the choice of texts and audiovisual materials proposed by the teacher and collected by the students themselves during the seminar. Workshop aimed at producing the script for the TiLLiT English 2024 show.

The activity includes introductory seminars on theatre writing in the context of the TiLLiT project (with examples taken from texts from previous years) and the collaborative writing of a text in English for the TiLLiT English 2023-24 group

The workshop traces the history of the French language from its origins to the present day. The salient characteristics of the different states of the language will be illustrated and, at the same time, the main cultural, social and political events or phenomena that influenced its evolution will be highlighted.

The Language TIPS (Task, Interaction and Pragmatics at School) project aims to encourage interaction between university teaching, research, training and teaching on the topic of language learning. In particular, the project focuses on the theme of development of pragmatic and interactional skills in the mother tongue, second or foreign language, an area which does not yet find sufficient space in teaching practice and which appears to be poorly investigated by research, despite its key role in developing language skills. The initiative includes participation in a series of meetings dedicated both to theoretical-practical in-depth study of the proposed themes and to the introduction of the use of tools for recording, transcription and annotation of spoken data, as well as the collaborative processing of a corpus and teaching materials. IThe initiative aims to offer the opportunity to students of Foreign Language Teaching on Bachelor’s and Master's degree courses to carry out an action-research experience aimed at experimenting with some task-based tools for the evaluation and teaching of spoken skills in a foreign language. The initiative involves the collaborative planning, implementation and documentation of short cycles of foreign language lessons in person or online, in collaboration with local schools. The workshop introduces the student to the topic of intercultural communication in educational and professional contexts, offering the tools to describe and investigate its main characteristics and plan educational or training interventions. The workshop is open both to students interested in teaching or professions that require interactions with different cultures and to international students wishing to reflect on their experience of contact with the language, culture and pragmatics of Italian. It will be conducted in English.

The project involves tandem participation in conversation sessions between peers in English/Italian. Conversations take place for approximately 30 minutes in English and approximately 30 minutes in Italian. The project also includes an introductory and a final session of approximately 45 minutes each.

The project involves participation in various conversation sessions (lasting 40/45 minutes) which will take place half in German and half in Italian. The topics of the first three sessions will be freely chosen by the participants, while for subsequent interactions specific conversation topics will be defined also on the basis of topics addressed during the lecture lessons. The project also includes an introductory session, a final meeting and a series of short meetings to monitor progress of the activity. From 23 to 27 May, the week dedicated to anti-racist pedagogy will take place, inspired by the international project "Anti-Racist Pedagogies: a Catalogue of Best Practices for Teaching American Literature in Ethnically Diverse Italy" (ARP) and coordinated by Prof. Cristina Iuli.

Students from Vercelli obtain 1 CFU for participating in this workshop as listeners; o 2 CFU for participation in the workshop + reading and report on the material relating to 1 teaching module among the 4 indicated by Prof. Iuli.

The day "Theories and Practices of Narrative in Comparison" (3rd edition) will take place on Tuesday 12 March from 930 to 18.30 with talks by 6 speakers (including Matías Martínez, University of Wuppertal, Martin Koval, Universidad de Buenos Aires and others) and 6 hours of overall work, the programme of which is currently being prepared. There will be a preliminary reading of the texts (minimum 3 hours), full participation (6 hours) plus an analytical written report (3 hours).
