Certification of Proficiency in Italian as a Foreign Language (CILS)
Our University (at DISUM) is an exam centre for the certification of proficiency in Italian as a Foreign Language (CILS).
CILS (Certificazione di Italiano come Lingua Straniera) is the official certificate attesting the level of language and communicative competence in Italian as a foreign language.
The Certificate, awarded by the University for Foreigners in Siena according to Law n. 204 of 17 February 1992 and in compliance with the Convention with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of 12 January 1993, is recognized all over Europe.
WHO IT IS FOR: CILS is for foreign or Italian citizens (living in Italy or abroad). Candidates are not required to have any school qualifications, nor to have passed a lower CISL level. CILS exams are not linked to any particular language teaching methods or language courses. Each level certifies the communicative ability obtained and how it can be used. The utility of all CILS levels for foreigners desiring to work with Italian Institutions (for training and students) is established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' 1998 document " Sistema coordinato delle certificazioni dell'Italiano per stranieri." (Coordinated System of Certificates of Italian for Foreigners).
DEADLINE. Candidates must enrol 40 days prior to the date of the examination
Remember that at the University of Eastern Piedmont, there are also courses of Italian for foreigners at elementary and advanced levels.
