Spring school – first edition

From 15 to 23 March 2016, eleven students from the Department of Humanities went to the Russian Federation for the first Spring School organized by UPO together with the Moscow Higher School of Economics. A unique training full-immersion made them protagonists in the comparison of two cultures. Their busy schedule included lectures, seminars and presentations (also in Russian).

This is the meaning of the verb ‘internationalize’, especially when it means improving your skills. On these premises, the Department of Humanities (DiSUm) of the University of Eastern Piedmont set up, thanks to the collaboration of the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, the first edition of the spring school "The texts of places: introduction to history, culture and language ".

Dania Spadoni, Eleonora Geda, Lorella Cattaneo, Martina Vialardi, Valentina Tomasin, Veronica Davico, Nicolaluciano Cannone, Alessio Cerreia Varale, Giulia Silvani, Marta Sansottera, Isabella Orsogna - these are the students, enrolled in both the Bachelor's and Master's of DiSUM – coordinated (as well as by Professor Stefania Sini) by Russian teachers Julia Ivanova, Pavel Sokolov, Il'ya Gurjanov and Jurij Rudnev.

"The Spring school in Russia ended in the best possible way” observed Professor Sini. “Of course, the terrible world news has not failed to deeply disturb us. We too observed a minute of silence for the young victims of the accident in Spain. The students were very good both at work and in everyday life. It was a splendid experience for me, not only from the didactic but also from the human point of view".

"A wonderful didactic experience” commented Eleonora Geda. “It seems pointless to say it, but the days really flew by, full of visits and excursions that allowed us to improve our knowledge of Russian culture. The work of the spring school really has enriched us, both in personal and cultural terms, allowing us to discover a country that we thought was distant but which turned out to be close and a harbinger of suggestions and memories that we will always carry with us ".
